Privacy policy

Last updated: 23 October 2026.

This policy explains what personal data Fishing Session (fishingsession.co.uk) collects, why, and what you can do about it. It applies to this website only.

Who we are

Fishing Session is the data controller for personal data collected through this site. To ask about your data or to use any of the rights below, use the details on our contact page.

What we collect and why

When you browse the site. The site is hosted on Cloudflare, which processes your IP address, browser details and the pages you request so it can deliver the site and protect it from attacks. We don’t use this to identify you. Our lawful basis is legitimate interests: running a secure, working website.

When you join the app waitlist. If you give us your email address on the app page, we use it only to tell you about the Fishing Session app, including when it launches. Our lawful basis is your consent, and every email we send includes a way to unsubscribe. We keep your address until you unsubscribe or until the app launches and the waitlist closes, whichever comes first.

When you contact us. If you email us, we use your name, address and message to reply. We keep the correspondence for as long as we need it to deal with your enquiry, and no longer than two years.

We don’t sell your personal data, and we don’t ask for it unless you choose to give it.

Cookies

The site itself doesn’t set cookies to track you. Two kinds of third-party cookies may be used:

  • Advertising. Some pages may show adverts served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies to show adverts and measure them, and in the UK they will only use cookies for personalised adverts with your consent, which you can give or refuse through the consent banner shown when ads are enabled. You can read how Google uses data at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites and manage ad personalisation at adssettings.google.com.
  • Affiliate links. Some links to tackle shops go through an affiliate network such as Awin. When you click one, the network may set a cookie so the shop can tell that you came from us if you buy something. We never see who you are or what you bought. See our affiliate disclosure for details.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time.

Who we share data with

We only share personal data with the service providers we need to run the site: Cloudflare for hosting and security, and our email provider for the waitlist and for replying to messages. They process it on our instructions. Some of these providers may process data outside the UK, and where they do, they use safeguards recognised under UK law, such as the International Data Transfer Agreement or standard contractual clauses.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can:

  • ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • ask us to correct it or delete it
  • object to or restrict how we use it
  • withdraw your consent at any time, for example by unsubscribing from the waitlist

We’ll reply within one month. If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113, but we’d appreciate the chance to put it right first.

Changes to this policy

We’ll update this page if the way we handle data changes, for example when the app launches. The “last updated” date at the top shows when it last changed.
