Fishing Session is a UK fishing site for anglers who want straight answers: which bait, which rig, which swim, and what the rules actually say.

Alex Clayton has been fishing for 15 years, and most of that time has been spent on Lake Windermere. His main targets are pike, perch and bream, and the methods he uses most are lure fishing, fly fishing, feeder fishing, deadbaiting, float fishing, trolling and drop-shotting.

Where a guide draws on Alex’s own time on the bank, it says so. Where it covers species, methods or venues outside that experience, it is written from careful research and the sources are listed on the page.

How we write our guides

• Facts are checked. Licence prices, close seasons, size limits and other rules are checked against the Environment Agency, GOV.UK and the relevant national bodies when a guide is written and when it’s updated.
• Venue details come from the venue. Ticket prices and rules change, so we link to the fishery or club and tell you to check before you travel.
• No made-up experience. We never invent catches, sessions or credentials.
• UK fishing, UK English. Everything is written for anglers fishing in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
